| figurative language | language that is not literal such as: similes, metaphors, personification, hyperbole, imagery, onomatopoeias, etc. |
| informative text | a text that is providing information; newspaper articles, research papers, fact books, etc. |
| mood | the feeling or atmosphere a writer creates for a reader. |
| tone | the way an author feels about a topic or subject. |
