Types of fake news
Term | Definition |

Media Literacy | The ability to access, analyze and evaluate all forms of communication |
Medium | A method in which something is communicated, the vehicle of the message (i.e. newspaper, website, television, etc..) |
Propaganda | form of information that aims to purposefully persuased and influence the attitude of a population toward an interest or position. |
Satire | Uses humor and commonly pokes fun at the news. Parody (or spoofs) are portrayed as actual news. Usually uses wit to criticize or attack by making fun of opposing views. |
Hoax | A humours or malicious fictional news story aimed at tricking for some purpose. This is considered a fake story that can be either believable or not. |
Biased or slanted | The perception that the media is reporting the news in a partial or prejudiced manner. Media seems to push a specific viewpoint or agenda and does not report objectively. |
