Bivariate Data Data that has two variables
Scatter Plot A graph in which the values of two variables are plotted along two axes, the pattern of the resulting points revealing any correlation present
Non-linear Association A trend in the data that can not be modeled by a straight line, that shows a steady rate of increase or decrease
Linear Association A trend in the data that can be modeled by a straight line, that shows a steady rate of increase or decrease
Positive Association As "x" increases so does "y"
Negative Association As "x" increases "y" decreases
No Association "X" and "Y" are not related and therefore don't affect each other
Linear Equation An equation whose graph is a straight line. The equation must be capable of being written in the form of y = mx + b, where “m” represents the slope and “b” represents the y-intercept.
