| Function | When the “x” value pairs with exactly one “y” value (“x” can not repeat) |
| Independent Value | Known as your “x” value |
| Dependent Value | Known as your “y” value |
| Vertical Line Test | Used to determine if you have a function or not (Must pass through only one point at a time) |
| Rate of Change/Slope | Change in “y” values divided by the change in “x” values (Also known as rise/run |
| Linear Function | A function that graphs a straight line |
| Non-linear Function | A function whose graph is anything except a straight line |
| Initial Value | The beginning value for data collection |
| Y-intercept | Where the graph crosses the y-axis |
| Slope-Intercept Form | Y = mx + b (Equations must be written in this form in order to graph on the calculator) |
| Standard Form | Ax + By = C |
| Relation | Set of ordered pairs |
| X-axis | The horizontal number line of a coordinate plane |
| Y-axis | The vertical number line of a coordinate plane |
