EOG Review

TermDefinition
Function When the “x” value pairs with exactly one “y” value (“x” can not repeat)
Independent Value Known as your “x” value
Dependent Value Known as your “y” value
Vertical Line Test Used to determine if you have a function or not (Must pass through only one point at a time)
Rate of Change/Slope Change in “y” values divided by the change in “x” values (Also known as rise/run
Linear Function A function that graphs a straight line
Non-linear Function A function whose graph is anything except a straight line
Initial Value The beginning value for data collection
Y-intercept Where the graph crosses the y-axis
Slope-Intercept Form Y = mx + b (Equations must be written in this form in order to graph on the calculator)
Standard Form Ax + By = C
Relation Set of ordered pairs
X-axis The horizontal number line of a coordinate plane
Y-axis The vertical number line of a coordinate plane
