| January | the first month of the year, between December and February |
| England | the largest country in Britain; capital London |
| route | a way from one place to another, a way of doing something or achieving a particular result |
| design | the art or process of making a drawing of something to show how you will make it or what it will look like |
| bruise | a purple or brown mark on your skin, or fruit, that you get because you have fallen, been hit etc |
| awkward | making you feel embarrassed so that you are not sure what to do or say |
| billion | the number 1,000,000,000, an extremely large number of things or people |
| triple | having three parts or involving three groups, people, events etc |
| bicycle | a vehicle with two wheels that you ride by pushing its pedals with your feet |
| octave | the range of musical notes between the first note of a scale and the last one |
| pentameter | a line of poetry with five beats. It is written in basic pentameter with exactly ten stressed syllables in every single line. |
| Quadruple | to increase and become four times as big or as high, or to make something increase in this way |
| unique | unusually good and special |
| quadriceps | the large muscle at the front of your thigh |
| uniform | a particular type of clothing worn by all the members of a group or organization such as the police, the army etc |

| cultural | belonging or relating to a particular society and its way of life |
