Periodic Table Basics

Periods The rows that go side to side on the periodic table
Nucleus Where an atom's mass is located; Positive charge
Electrons Are smaller than protons or a neutrons and have a negative charge
Neutrons Have a neutral charge and the same mass as a proton
Electron Cloud Is mostly empty space where electrons are located
Period Number Is equal to the number of energy levels
Group Number Is equal to the number of valence electrons
