Forces (8.6A)

Determine how UB forces change speed or direction of an object's motion

QuestionAnswer
What is speeding up, slowing down, or changing direction? Acceleration
How do you calculate net force if two forces are going in the SAME direction? Add the forces
How can an object that is not in motion be described? At rest
What kind of forces are acting when an object is at rest or it's moving in a straight line at a constant speed? Balanced forces
What is speed with direction? Velocity
What is distance traveled in a certain amount of time? Speed
What is the total of all forces acting upon an object? Net force
How do you calculate net force if two forces are going in OPPOSITE directions? Subtract the forces
What is the unit in which force is measured? Newton (N)
How do you calculate force? Mass x Acceleration
How do you calculate mass? Force divided by Acceleration
How do you calculate acceleration? Force divided by Mass
What is a push or a pull? Force
What is the unit in which mass is measured? Kilogram (kg)
The amount of matter in an object defines - Mass
What is a force that opposes the motion of one object across another? Friction
What is the unit in which speed is measured? m/s
What is the unit in which acceleration is measured? m/s^2 (meters per second squared)

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
