TermDefinition
Poetry poetry is a type if literature that use sound, rhythms, words to describe the world.
lines each row of writing- poetry is divided into groups of words.
stanzas groups of lines ( similar to a paragraph)
connotation the figurative meaning of a word or group of words
denotation the literal meaning of a word or a group of words
diction the way a writer chooses their words
simile a comparison of unlike things using like or as
metaphor a comparison if unlike things without using like or as
alliteration the repetition of consonant sounds in the beginning of words
onomatopoeia words that imitate sounds
prose writing that is not in poetic form
