Simile Compares two things using "like" or "as"
Metaphor Compares two things without using "like" or "as"
Extended Metaphor A metaphor that continues to compare the same things over the course of the entire story.
Personification Assigns human qualities to non-human things.
Alliteration The repetition of sounds in the beginning of words.
Mood The feeling you get from the story.
Tone The way the author is speaking.
Onomatopoeia Is the use if words that imitate sounds.
Imagery Vivid language the appeals to the five senses
Rhyme Scheme Is the pattern of rhymes at the ends of lines
Stanze Grouped lines
Line A grouping of words
Elegy A formal poem reflecting on serious themes
Lyric Poem Expresses the thoughts and feelings of one speaker
Narrative Poem Tells a sotry, formal structure, and regular rhyme scheme.
