audition The act of hearing or listening. I hope Toms audition later today goes well.
benedictory Expressing wishes for good. The church wrote a benedictory for the family going through a tough loss.
circumnavigate To sail completely round. Ferdinand Magellan was the first person to circumnavigate the earth.
corporation A body formed to act as one single person. Corporations are made to manage larger companies and businesses.
dictate To tell or utter so that one can write down. In order to be a good speaker you need to dictate your points well.
duress Hardship; constraint The people living in Syria were under duress when ISIS took over some of them.
equivocal having two things equally applicable. The two resumes were equivocal since they both have the same degree.
hydroponic Growth of plants by only using water and only soil. hydroponics is used in space since they cant use soil.
lunately In the shape of a crescent. The moon is only lunately shaped every few months.
navy A fleet of ships The United States has one of the biggest Navy's in the world
pedometer An instrument to measure the amount of steps taken while walking. Pedometers get very popular during Christmas time.
psychology The science of the human mind. Psychology is a study that many have a degree in.
soliloquy An act of speaking ones thoughts a loud. The best talks about people are there soliloquy's.
sentiment An emotion towards one event. The sentiment of the lecture was very moving and happy.
spectator A person who watches a show, game, or another event. The spectators of the game were shocked when he was struck out.
abolish To do away with. In order for the U.S to abolish slavery we had to have a war.
imprison To put or keep in prison. The imprisonment of Nelson Mandela had many people in outrage.
Intervene To come between. The Police intervened before the situation could get any worse.
malnutrition Not enough nutrition or faulty nutrition. Malnutrition effects many young kids in third world countries.
unity The state of being one. In order to try and stop a civil war the U.S tried to make a unity with the south.
attendee A person who is present at a specific place at a specific time. The attendees of the Royals World Series parade numbered in the hundred thousands.
kitchenette A very small compact kitchen. The apartment had a kitchenette just perfect for my ideas.
fusion The process of combining two things. The fusion of the two companies made the largest company in the world.
passive Not participating actively. The passive politician didn't care about his job.
realist A person who views things for how they really are. Many friends are not fun if there a realist.
pugnacious Eager or quick to fight. The arrested man has a pugnacious spirit.
scientize To treat with a scientific approach. I scientized my project on class.
agriculture The art of cultivating the ground. Many parts of The United States are devoted to agriculture.
