TermDefinition
Line Plot a graphical representation of data using x's or other marks to show frequency on a number line
Outlier a piece of numerical data that is much smaller of much larger than the rest of the data in a set
Protractor an instrument for measuring and drawing angles
Random occurring without a pattern
Ratio a relationship between two quantities
Scatter Plot a graph of plotted points that show the relationship between two sets of data
Scientific Notation a way of writing a number as the product of the power of ten and a decimal number greater than or equal to 1 and less than 10
Solid Figure a three dimensional object
Symmetry when one shape becomes exactly like another if you flip, slide, or turn it
Tree diagram graphical representation of the different possible outcomes in a compound event
Absolute Value the distance between a given number and zero
Additive Inverse what you add to a number to get zero, also called its opposite
Bias a question that encourages a particular response
Box Plot a graphical representation of the distribution of data based on the minimum, first quartile, median, third quartile, and maximum
Circumference the distance around a circle
Compound Event a combination of simple events
Data a collection of information such as numbers, words, measurements, or observations
Diagram a drawing used to describe something
Equation a mathematical sentence that shows two expressions are equal
Inequality a mathematical sentence that shows the relationship between two expressions that are not equal
