|---|---|
| random variable | a variable (typically represented by x) that has a single numerical value, determined by chance, for each outcome of a procedure. |
| Discrete random variable | Has a finite or countable number of values. |
| Probability Distribution | A description that gives the probability P(x) for each value of the random variable. |
| Mean Value | Is a weighted average of x-values |
| Expected Value | Represents the average value of all possible outcomes in the long run. |
| Binomial Distribution | Is a type of discrete probability distribution that comes forma sequence of trials satisfying certain properties (fixed # of trials; trials are independent, classified as success or failure, p(success) is same for all outcomes.) |
