How did contact with the Spaniards harm Native Americans? They got diseases.
Describe the relationship between the English colonists on Roanoke Island and the local Native Americans. At first the Native Americans provided food then drought caused conflict.
What was the key factor in the survival and progress of the English colony at Jamestown? John Rolfe introduced tobacco farming so the colonists could profit.
Write a true statement about the relationship between the Pilgrims and the Native Americans. The Native Americans helped the Pilgrims start farms.

Like Jamestown in the English colonies, life in the Dutch colony of New Netherland was based on what? commerce - the business of buying and selling goods.
Think about the English, French, and Dutch colonies in North America. Write a summary of their history. All colonies had rough starts but turned out to be successful with help from the Native Americans and each other.
Describe the role of Native Americans in the economy of New Spain. Native Americans were expected to pay settlers by free labor, gold, silver, and other goods. Many were worked to death.
Discuss three factors that were important in the survival and growth of the Jamestown colony. 1. They had cash crops to give them money. 2. They found peace with the Powhatans. 3. The Virginia Company gave land away.
Describe why the Pilgrims and Puritans came to North America. To find money and riches and to practice their religions freely.
Contrast the way European colonists and Native Americans viewed the ownership of land. Native Americans viewed it for groups where Europeans viewed it for families.
Discuss the role of encomienda in the economy of the Spanish settlements in New Spain. It gave the Spanish the right to control the Natives giving them little control over their own lives.
