audience refers to listeners at a speech or the readers of an article .
author's purpose the reason an author writes
claim the thesis statement that arises from a question which in turns rises from the examination of information.
counter argument/counterclaim acknowledging the opposite side of your argument
ethos remind audience who you are and why you are a person to belive
evidence sufficient-enough of
exigence what is going on in the real world that lead to the authors argument
logos use research and statistics to back up your arguements
pathos use descriptive language and imagery
rhetoric the art of effective speaking or persuasive writing
warrants evidence of how the evidence supports the claim
cause/effect
