alliteration two or more words near eachother that begin with the same sound
antagonist person who tries to stop the protagonist
aside breaking the fourth wall, character talks directly to the audience without other characters hearing
blocking where people stand on stage
indirect character description describes the character's actions
direct character description gives facts about the character
convention an unspoken agreement between the audience and the players
conflict two opposing forces meet
external conflict forces can be seen
internal conflict within a person
drama written to be performed, limited time, seen and heard
epic long narrative poem that has adventure, god intervention, heroic figures, vast setting, and elevated style
epithet a repeated description often marked by a hyphen
