Math Vocabulary CW

TermDefinition
Proportion An equation stating that two ratios or rates are equivalent.
Origin The point of intersection of the x-axis and the y-axis
Algebra A mathematical language that uses symbols, usually letters, along with numbers. The letters stand for unknown numbers.
Area The number of square units needed to cover an enclosed (inside) surface.
Equation A mathematical sentence that contains and equal (=) sign.
Mean The sum of the numbers in a set of data divided by the number of pieces of data.
Radius The distance from the center of the circle to any point on the circle.
Yard A customary unit of length equal to 3 feet, or 36 inches.
