triangle | a polygon with 3 sides |

acute triangle | 3 sided polygon with all acute angles |

right triangle | A triangle with one right angle |

right angle | perfect 90 degrees (corner) |

equilateral triangle | all equal sides, 3 sided polygon |

isosceles triangle | triangle with 2 equal sides |

scalene triangle | a triangle with no equal sides |

plane figure | a 2D flat shape |

polygon | A figure with all straight sides, no openings, no intersections |

Quadrilateral | any 4 sided polygon |

Pentagon | Any 5 sided polygon |

Hexagon | Any 6 sided polygon |

Parallel | two lines that will never meet if extended in both directions |

Perpendicular | two lines that intersect to make a right angle |

2 pairs of parallel sides | Two SETS of parallel sides |

Isosceles trapezoid | a trapezoid with 2 equal sides |

Parallelogram | A quadrilateral with two pairs parallel sides |

Congruent | Equivalent |

Rectangle | A quadrilateral with all right angles |

Square | A quadrilateral with all right angles and congruent sides |

Rhombus | A quadrilateral with congruent sides |

Line of symmetry | Imaginary line where you could fold the figure and have both sides match up |

Diagonal | Sides in a figure that are opposite of one another |

Classification | To group something according to attributes or characteristics |

Figure | A shape (2D or 3D) |

Diagram | A picture/chart |

Kite | A quadrilateral with two pairs of adjacent sides that are congruent |

Adjacent | Sides that are next to one another (share a vertex) |

Vertex | Where two sides meet (a corner) |

Vertices | The plural form of vertex |

Properties | special characteristics |

Attributes | Special characteristics or properties |

Category (Categories) | Specific group |

Subcategory (subcategories) | Specific groups within a group |

angles | the spaces, measured in degrees, between two lines connected at a vertex. |
