polygon 2- dimensional figure that is made up of line segments that do not cross and make one closed path.
line segment a straight path joining two points.
vertex The point where the sides of an angle or the edges of a polyhedron meet. It can also be called corner.
face A flat surface on a 3- dimensional shape.
interior of a figure The inside of a closed figure
parallelogram a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides
quadrilateral a polygon that has four sides
base The side of a polygon from which the height is measured.
height the length of the shortest line segment connecting a vertex of a shape to the line containing the base opposite it.
net a 2 dimensional figure created to represent a 3 dimensional figure by flattening it.
volume a measure of how much space a solid object takes up or the measure of how much a container hold.
cubic unit a unit used in measuring volume
surface area the total area of all the faces of a 3 dimensional object
