Divisibility Rules
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| A number is divisible by ONE if... | it is a whole number |
| A number is divisible by TWO if... | it has an even digit (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) in the ones place |
| A number is divisible by THREE if... | the sum of the digits is divisible by 3 |
| A number is divisible by FOUR if... | the last 2 digits can be divided by 4 |
| A number is divisible for FIVE if... | the number ends in 0 or 5. |
| A number is divisible by SIX if... | the number is divisible by BOTH 2 and 3 |
| A number is divisible by SEVEN if... | it can be divided by 7 |
| A number is divisible by EIGHT if... | the last 3 digits are divisible by 8 |
| A number is divisible by NINE if... | the sum of the digits is divisible by 9 |
| A number is divisible by TEN if... | it ends in a zero |
| divisibility | A whole number that can be divided without a remainder. |
| factor pair | Two numbers when multiplied equal a given number. |
| prime number | A number that can only be divided by one and itself. |
| composite number | A whole number that can be divided evenly by numbers other than 1 and itself. |
