Divisibility Rules

TermDefinition
A number is divisible by ONE if... it is a whole number
A number is divisible by TWO if... it has an even digit (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) in the ones place
A number is divisible by THREE if... the sum of the digits is divisible by 3
A number is divisible by FOUR if... the last 2 digits can be divided by 4
A number is divisible for FIVE if... the number ends in 0 or 5.
A number is divisible by SIX if... the number is divisible by BOTH 2 and 3
A number is divisible by SEVEN if... it can be divided by 7
A number is divisible by EIGHT if... the last 3 digits are divisible by 8
A number is divisible by NINE if... the sum of the digits is divisible by 9
A number is divisible by TEN if... it ends in a zero
divisibility A whole number that can be divided without a remainder.
factor pair Two numbers when multiplied equal a given number.
prime number A number that can only be divided by one and itself.
composite number A whole number that can be divided evenly by numbers other than 1 and itself.
