| Genre | a class or category of artistic endeavor having a particular form, content, technique |
| Objective | something that one's efforts or actions are intended to attain or accomplish; purpose; goal; target |
| Prior Knowledge | knowledge that stems from previous experience |
| Criteria | a principle or standard by which something may be judged or decided |
| Annotation | a note of explanation or comment added to a text or diagram |
| Misconception | a view or opinion that is incorrect because it is based on faulty thinking or understanding |
| Predictive Reading | a strategy used by readers to predict what they are about to read based on their own personal experiences |
| close reading | thoughtful, critical analysis of a text that focuses on significant details or patterns in order to develop a deep, precise understanding of the text's form, craft, meanings |
| Familiarize | make (something) better known or more easily grasped |
| context | the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed |
| Syllabus | an outline of the subjects in a course of study |
| degree evaluation | An evaluation before one is able to attend commencement to ensure all requirements are met |
| default | failure to fulfill an obligation, especially to repay a loan |
| Developmental | relating to the growth or development of someone or something |
