APUSH Acts Review

TermDefinition
Albany plan -to unite the 13 colonies in trade, military, etc -the first major event leading to the revolution
Proclamation Act '63 -to ease relations with the natives because of Poniacs Upsrisings -A colonial reaction: they ignored it and moved anyways
Sugar Act -1st true major revenue act -attempt to curb smuggling -animosity(strong hostility) came with it
Stamp Act -Internal act -the people's reaction was they wanted actual representation instead of virtual representation
Declaratory Act -caused by the repeal of the stamp act and sugar act -British parliament declared power to make laws in the colonies
Townshend Acts -continued British custom agents to go into people's private homes and search for anything they needed -people boycotted and England sent soldiers to stop the boycotts -tensions rose= led to Boston Massacre
Boston Massacre -the colonist became more angry and determined to free themselves from British rule
Tea Act -caused animosity(strong hostility)= led to Boston Tea Party
Coercive "Intollerable" Acts -was to punish the people who threw tea into the ocean -made the situation worse and united the colonies together to form the 1st Continental Congress
1st Continental Congress -colonies joined to draft a declaration of rights and greivances
