| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| numerator | The top number of a fraction that show many parts of a hole you have. |
| denominator | The number below the line in a fraction. it tells the number of equal parts in witch a whole is divided. |
| Mixed fractions | A fraction that includes wholes and parts. |
| Factor | The whole numbers that are multiplied to get a product. Example: 2 X 4 2 & 4 are factors of 8 |
| Multiple | A multiple of a number is that number multiplied by an integer. For examples, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 are multiples of 2. |
| Fraction | A fraction is two numbers written one above the other, that shows how much of a a whole thing we have. |
| Benchmark | A number such as 0, 1/2, or 1 whole that help with estimating. Example: 4/5 is closer to 1 whole. |
| Common Denominator | Denominators in two or more fractions that are the same. |
| Equivalent Fraction | Fractions that have the same value. |
| Simplest Form | A fraction is in simplest form when the greatest common factor of the numerator and denominator is 1. Example: 3/9 in simplest form is 1/3 |
