Water Cycle
| Term | Definition |

| Hydrosphere | all of the water on Earth. |
| Water Cycle | the series of natural processes by which water continually moves throughout the hydrosphere. |
| evaporation | liquid water changes into water vapor and enters the atmosphere. |
| transpiration | the evaporation of water vapor from plants. |
| respiration | water vapor is released when animals breathe. |
| condensation | water vapor cools and forms back into a liquid. (This forms clouds) |
| precipitation | liquid water falls to the surface as rain, snow, sleet or hail. |
| groundwater | water is stored in the cracks and pores beneath the surface. |
| surface runoff | gravity causes water on the surface to flow downhill into streams or rivers. |
