Chapter 5 AP Physics
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Centripetal Forces | The force that causes Centripetal Acceleration |
| Circular Velocity | The velocity of an object traveling with circular mention. The direction of this motion is always changing. |
| Centripetal Acceleration | The acceleration experienced by an object traveling in uniform circular motion. |
| Newton's Universal Law of Gravitation | Any two point masses attract each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. |
| Satellite | A smaller body which revolves or orbits around a larger one. |
| Kepler's First Law | The path of each planet about the Sun is an ellipse with the Sun at one focus. |
| Centripetal Velocity | The velocity of an object traveling in a circular path directed at a tangent to the circle. |
| Kepler's Second Law | Each planet moves so that an imaginary line drawn from the sun to the planet sweeps out equal areas in equal periods of time. |
| Kepler's Third Law | The ratio of the cube of the mean radius of a planet's orbit to the square of its orbital period is the same for all planets. |
| Uniform Circular Motion | The motion of an object at a constant speed around a circular path. |
