2- Dimensional Figure The outline of a shape
Square A plane shape that has 4 equal sides
Rectangle A quadrilateral with 4 right angles. Opposite sides are equal length and parallel
Quadrilateral A shape that has 4 sides and 4 angles
Rhombus A parallelogram with 4 sides of the same size
Rhombi One Rhombus
Trapezoid A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides.
Vertices The point where 2 rays meet and make an angle
Acute Angle an angle less than 90 degrees
Right Angle an angle that is exactly 90 degrees
Obtuse Angle an angle that is more than 90 degrees
Hexagon a polygon with 6 sides and 6 angles
Octagon - a polygon with 8 sides and 8 angles
Pentagon a polygon with 5 sides and 5 angles
Triangle a polygon with 3 sides and 3 angles
Attributes the characteristic of a shape
Closed Figure a shape that has all sides touching and no sides open
Parallelogram a quadrilateral that has both pairs of opposite sides parallel and equal in length
Polygon A closed 2-D figure formed of 3 or more straight sides that don’t cross.
Congruent the same size as another
Parallel The same distance apart from another. They will never cross.
