QuestionAnswer
What is a preposition? A group of words that show how a noun relates to another word.
What is a prepositional phrase? A group of words that begins with a preposition and ends with a noun or pronoun.
What is a noun? A person, place, thing, or idea.
What is a adverb? A word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.
What are the three types of verbs? Action, helping, and linking.
What does a verb phrase have? A helping verb and a main verb.
What can an adjective only modify? A noun or a pronoun.
What does a pronoun do? A pronoun replaces a noun or another pronoun.
What do pronouns help communicate? Point of view/perspective.
What does a coordinating conjunction do? It joins words, phrases, and clauses.
What does FANBOYS stand for? For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So.
What is a compound sentence? Two independent clauses joined by a comma and a coordinating conjunction.
What do you do when writing a list of 3 or more items? Separate every item on the list with a comma.
What do you do when writing two adjectives in a row without using "and"? Add a comma between the adjectives.
What does a sentence have? A subject and a predicate.
What does a sentence express? A complete thought.
What is an apostrophe do? An apostrophe is used to replace missing letters in a word OR show possession.
