| Formal regions | A formal region is Defined by government or other structures (cities, towns, states & countries. |
| Perceptual regions | A perceptual region is defined by people’s feelings & attitudes about an area, basically their perception. |
| Climate regions | Measured by assessing the patterns of variation in temperature, humidity, wind and precipitation. |
| Political regions | Political maps are based on political units such as sovereign states, provinces, countries, territories, townships, etc. |
| Functional regions | Functional Regions are made up of a central place and surrounding areas affected by it. |
| How does the Earth-Sun relationship affect the climate of different regions of the world? | Different areas of the globe receiving differing amounts of sunlight. |
