| scripture | holy or sacred writings |
| priest pastor/minister | leader in a Christian church |
| pope | bishop of Rome, Italy (Vatican city) main leader of the roman Catholic Church |
| disciple | people who follow the teachings of Christ, or any other religious leader |
| Judaism | a monotheistic religion that began 6000 years ago by Abraham |
| Torah | the name of the Jewish holy book |
| Ten Commandments | ten laws that serve as a code of morals for people to follow |
| Sabbath | a holy day of rest; a day to worship |
| synagogue or temple | the name of the place a worship for Jewish followers |
| rabbi | the name of the leader of a synagogue |
| monotheism | believe in one god |
| fast | going without food as a religious sacrifice |
| Islam | monotheist religion that began in the middle east about 1400 years ago founded by Mohammed |
| Ramadan | holy month when the Qur'an was first reveled to Mohamed |
| Mecca | Muslim holy city where Mohammed was born |
| pilgrimage | a religious journey |
| mosque | a Muslim place of worship |
| Qur'an | holy book of Islam |
| Allah | Arabic name for God |
| Mohammed | founder of Islam |
