algebraic expression a math sentence with numbers, variables, and operation symbols (5y + 3) or (21 - 7y)
variable a letter that represents an unknown number (x, y or t)
term a number, variable or the product of a number and a variable (5, 4y, 217, or 92t)
co-efficient the part of a term that has a variable (5x, 9a or 6y)
constant a term with only a number (21, 32, 512 or 1,254)
