Periodic Table

a way to study the elements on the periodic table

QuestionAnswer
Two or more atoms joined together by a chemical bond. Molecule.
Smallest particle of an element that still has the properties of that element. Atom.
A shorthand way to describe the chemical makeup of a compound. Chemical formula.
Central core of an atom. Nucleus.
Letter or letters that abbreviate an elements name. Chemical symbol.
Particle in a nucleus of an atom that has a positive charge. Proton.
Particle in the nucleus of an atom that has no charge. Neutron.
Substance made of two or more elements that are chemically combined. Compound.
Substance that cannot be broken down into another substance. Element.
Particle in an atom that has a negative charge. Electron.
Standardized table that organizes the elements by their properties. Periodic table.
Process in which one or more substances are changed into one or more different substances. Chemical reaction.
