| Ethos. | A type of advertising that uses ethical reasoning and credibility to persuade you. (Ex: "As the president....", celebrities) |
| Logos. | A type of advertising that uses facts and logic to persuade you. (Ex: charts and graphs) |
| Pathos. | A type of advertising that uses your emotions to persuade you. (Ex: kids and animals) |
| Juxtaposition. | Contrasting two things or people to highlight their dramatic differences (Ex: deep depths of slavery to the light hills). |
| Allusion. | A reference to someone or something well known or famous. |
| Diction. | Word choice. (Ex: strutted instead of walk) |
| Syntax. | Sentence structure (Ex: punctuation, sentence length). |
| Rhetorical questions. | Questions that don't require an answer. |
| Tone. | Author's attitude towards the topic they are discussing shown through wording and details. |
