Math Vocab

Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Constant A number with a fixed value. 4 is always worth 4!
Variable A letter that can be given any value. “x” can be worth 4, 12, or any other value.
Coefficient A constant that is multiplied with a variable. Just the constant, not the variable.
Term Items separated by a +, -, inequality, or = sign.
Expression What you call one or more terms.
Equation What you call one expression equal to another.
