Equations

Equations and Inequalitites

TermDefinition
Coefficient the number that is being multiplied by a variable
Constant a number that does not change in value
Equation shows that two expressions are equal
Equivalent having the same value
Inequality shows that two expressions are not equal (greater than, less than)
Solution a number that makes the expression true
Evaluate solve
Term numbers or variables that are separated by a plus or minus sign
Variable a symbol that represent a number that is unknown
Expression a math phrase that contains terms and operations
Inverse Operation the opposite operation to "undo" the problem (add/subtract or multiply/divide)
