QuestionAnswer
Reactant The substances that are mixed together in a chemical reaction.
Product The substances that are created in a chemical reaction
Valence Electrons The elctrons in the outer most energy level that are responsible fo chemical reactions
Chemical Formula A way to express the type and number of atoms in a molecule
Atom the smallest piece of matter that stills has the same properties of the element
Molecule two or more atoms put together
Subscript A small number below the element symbol that tells you how many of those type of atoms are in the molecule
Exothermic A chemical reaction in which heat is given off
Endothermic A chemical reaction in which heat is absorbed and the product feels cold
Ionic bond A bond of two or more atoms when the valence electrons are transferred from one atom to the other atom
Covalent Bond A bond of two or more atoms when the valence electrons are shared between atoms
