Protagonist Main character in a story
Antagonist character,object,an event, or any other condition that opposes the main character
Allegory A symbolic device in which characters or events in a story represent or symbolize ideas and concepts
Alliteration The repetition of an initial consonant sound
Allusion A figure of speech where the author refers to a subject matter such as person,place,event, or literacy work in a passing conference
Anagram Literacy device where in the writer jumbles up parts of the world to create a new word.
Apathy Lack of interest,enthusiasm or concern.
Analogy A comparison between 2 things for the purpose of explanation or clarification.
Anti-hero In literature an anti-hero is a central character who lacks conventional heroic qualities they blur the line between hero and villian.
Anthropomorphism when a human quality emotion or ambition is given to a non human object or being.
Antithesis used when the writer puts two sentences of contrasting meanings to close to one another.
Apostrophe A figure of speech in which the speaker addresses an object,concept or person(often absent) that is unable to respond.
Archetype A concept,person or object that has served as a universally understood prototype of its kind, archetypes are immendiately identifiable and can be oversued.
