| 2. Why were the border states important to the North? | Kentuckey and Mississippi had parts of major rivers in them, that are necessary for tranportation. If Maryland joined the South, then Virginia and Maryland would surround the nations capital. And Delaware was close to the Northern city of Philadelphia. |
