TermDefinition
dividend a number being divided
divisor the number that divides the dividend
fact family a group of related facts that use the same numbers.
partial quotients a dividing method in which the dividend is separated into addends that are easy to divide.
remainder a number that is left after a whole number is divided by another.
unknown a missing value
variable a letter or symbol used to represent an unknown quantity.
division An operation in which we make parts out of a number, which are equal
estimate quotients using compatible numbers that are easy to divide to estimate a quotient
interpret understand (an action, mood, or way of behaving) as having a particular meaning or significance
independent practice Working alone practicing a skill while using my best efforts and ignoring distractions.
problem solving Finding a way around an obstacle to reach a goal
investigation to try to find out about something, such as a scientific or math problem
