| Term | Definition |

| Claim | Serves one of the following purposes; clarify a definition, explain a cause of effect, make a judgement, advocate an action. |
| Evidence | facts, examples, data that supports the claim. |
| Warrant | Explanation of how evidence is linked to the claim. |
| Counter claim | A statement that disagrees with the claim |
| Rebuttal | to contradict or oppose the counterclaim, expose counterclaim as fake |
| Conclusion | often a call to action in the persuasive argument, advocating an action |
| transitions | phases or words used to connect one idea to the next |
| Persuasive argument | a mature, clear, logical way of thinking thag persuades an audience, when written formally includes claim,evidence, warrants, Counterclaim, rebuttal and conclusion |
