Chapter 3 Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
benchmark A familiar number used as a point of reference.
hundredth One of 100 equal parts.
place value The value of each digit in a number based on the location of the digit.
round To replace a number with one that is simpler and is approximately the same size as the original number.
sequence An ordered list of numbers.
tenth One of 10 equal parts.
term A number in a sequence.
thousandth One of 1,000 equal parts.
quotient The number that results from dividing.
exponent A number that shows how many times the base is used as a factor.
