| berate | scold or criticize (someone) angrily | Jake wouldn't like to berate people so much if people did it to him more often. |
| castigate | reprimand (someone) severely | How does Gregory like to castigate people so much when he's failing and looks like trash! |
| censure | to criticize or reproach in a harsh or vehement manner | He was bound to pay for his crimes and as the vote of censure came nigh, he may only pray that his life shall not be compromised. |
| chastise | to discipline, especially by corporal punishment | Can somebody please get that guy's computer, nobody wants a person that likes to chastise everything! |
| deprecate | express disapproval of | Is it bad if a person likes to deprecate art and expression? |
| impugn | to challenge as false (another's statements, motives, etc.); cast doubt upon. | A good lawyer makes sure to find as much evidence as possible to impugn the other's statements. |
| rebuff | a blunt or abrupt rejection, as of a person making advances | You give your heart out to her, and she throws it on the ground, if she was gonna rebuff me at the very least not so harsh. |
| rebuke | to express sharp, stern disapproval of; reprove; reprimand | Some teachers are so bored in life that the only way for them ti find joy is by rebuking students and laughing at their faces |
| reprove | to criticize or correct, especially gently | I like the younger teachers, they reprove us gently instead of harshly rebuking us. |
| upbraid | to find fault with or reproach severely; censure: | If he likes to upbraid people so much then we should show him how it feels. |
