Literary Elements
| Term | Definition |

| Protagonist | The leading character or one of the major characters in a drama, movie, novel, or other fictional text. |
| Antagonist | A person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something; an adversary. |
| Dynamic Character | A literary or dramatic character who undergoes an important inner change, as a change in personality or attitude. |
| Static Character | A literary or dramatic character who undergoes little or no inner change; a character who does not grow or develop. |
| Foreshadowing | Be a warning or indication of (a future event). |
| Flashback | A scene in a movie, novel, etc., set in a time earlier than the main story. |
| Suspense | A state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen. |
| Cliffhanger | An ending to an episode of a serial drama that leaves the audience in suspense. |
| Subplot | A subordinate plot in a play, novel, or similar work. |
| Dialogue | A conversation between two or more people as a feature of a book, play, or movie. |
