Allegory | A story that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning. |
Alliteration | Repetition of beginning consonant sounds. |
Antagonist | The "Villon" of the the story who gets in the way of the protagonist. |
Character | A person/thing in a story. |
Climax | The turning point in the story where a character must make a decision abut the conflict. |
Exposition | The beginning of the story where we meet th characters and find out about the setting. |
External Conflict | A struggle between a character and an outside force. |
Falling Action | Where the problem in the story is being worked out. |
Figurative Language | The use of words with a meaning that is different than the literal interpretation. |
Foreshadowing | A warning about events coming up in the story. |
Imagery | The use of language to create an image in the readers mind. |
Internal Conflict | A struggle in a characters mind. |
Memoir | A record of events written by a person having personal knowledge of them. |
Metaphor | A comparison without using like or as. |
