| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Free Fall | Motion that is only under the influence of gravity |
| Velocity | Speed together with the direction of motion, change in displacement per time interval |
| Speed | How fast something is moving |
| Magnitude | The size of what you're measuring. |
| Motion | Change in an objects position relative to a given observer during a certain amount of time. |
| Reference Frame | includes an object of reference, a coordinate system, a coordinate system with a scale for measuring distance and a clock for measuring time. |
| Linear Motion | Model of motion that assumes that an object moves along a straight line |
| Position | location of an object with respect to a particular reference point |
| displacement | distance and direction between starting and ending points. |
| distance | how far an object traveled without regard for direction |
| instantaneous velocity | the velocity of an object at any instant in time |
| average velocity | total change in displacement during a specific time interval |
| constant velocity | The change in displacement is the same for each time interval |
| acceleration | change in velocity per time interval |
| constant acceleration | the change in velocity is the same for each time interval |
