Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Algebraic expression An expression that contains one or more variables.
Property A rule or statement that is always true.
Variable A letter used in place of a number.
Factor Any numbers that are multiplied together to form a product.
Coefficient The number the variable is being multiplied by.
Constant Is a term that does not contain a variable.
Equation Is a statement showing that two expressions are equal.
Commutative Property of Addition For all real numbers a and b; a + b = b + a
Associative Property of Addition For all real numbers a, b, and c; (a +b) + c = a + (b+c)
Distributive Property For all real numbers a, b, and c; a(b+c) = ab + ac
