| narrative | a spoken or written account of connected events; a story |
| tarnish | to become or cause metal to become dull and not shiny |
| gaunt | very thin, usually because of illness or suffering |
| sorrow | a feeling of sadness or grief caused especially by the loss of someone or something |
| circuit | the complete path that an electric current travels along; OR a circular line that starts and finishes at the same place |
| excerpt | a short extract (section) from a film, broadcast, or piece of music or writing |
| straggly | growing or hanging in an untidy way; scattered irregularly |
| unconscious | not awake, especially because of an injury, drug, etc. |
| suitable | having the qualities that are right, needed or appropriate for something |
| slaughter | to kill in a brutal or violent manner; to kill or butcher animals, especially for food. |
