QuestionAnswer
Is a compound made of only only one kind of atom? No.
Is a compound made of unbounded substances? No.
Is a compound a substance? Yes.
Is a compound made of elements that are bonded together? Yes.
Is a compound represented by a chemical formula? Yes.
Is a compound identity is not changed by changing the amount of its substances? No.
Is a compound the smallest part of an element? No.
Is a compound often made of molecules? No.
What is an atom? A small particle that is the building block of matter.
What happens when atoms combine? They bond or makes different kinds of matter.
What is an element? Matter made of only one kind of atom.
Name 3 elements. Any thing that is off of the periodic table.
What is the relationship among atoms, elements, and molecules? Elements are made of atoms and atoms make molucules.
What is a compound? 2 kinds of atoms that are bonded.
Name 3 compounds. Water, carbon dioxide, sugar, and salt.
What info about a compound is found in its chemical formula? H2o type of atom # of each atom.
How are atoms related to elements and compounds? Elements are made of atoms and atoms are made up of molecule.
A mixture in which two or more substances are evenly mixed but not bonded together. Homogeneous Mixture.
A mixture in which the substances are not evenly mixed. Hetrogenous Mixture.
Two or more atoms that are held together by chemical bonds and act as a unit. Molecule.
Matter with a composition that is always the same.` Substance.
Anything that has mass and takes up space. Matter.
Substance made of only one kind of atom. Element
A small particle that is a building block of matter. Atoms.
Substances made of two or more elements that are chemically joined in a specific combination. Compound.
Anything that has__________ and takes up space. Mass.
Most made of_____________. Atoms
Two classifications:________and_________. Mixtures and Substances (pure).
Made up of one or more types of atoms in the same combinations ____________. Substances (pure).
Two types:_________and________. Elements and compounds.
Made of only one type of atom. Organized on the periodic table. And has a chemical symbol. Elements.
Made of two or more types of atoms bonded together. Properties are different from the elements that make it up, Have chemical formulas. Compounds.
have chemical formulas. Mixtures.
Made of two or more_________________that are not bonded together. Substances.
Combination of ___________can vary. Substances.
Two types:_____________and____________. Hetrogeneous mixtures and homogeneous mixture.
Two or more substances unevenly mixed. Different substances visible by unaided eye or microscope. Hetrogeneous mixture
Two or more substances cannot be seen by a microscope. Homogeneous mixture.
What is the difference between heterogenous mixture and homogenous mixture? Heterogenous mixture is a mixture in which the substances are not evenly mixed and homogenous mixture is a mixture in which two or more substances are evenly mixed, but not bonde together.
What is the difference between atom and element? Atom is a building block of matter and element is a substance made of only one kind of atom.
What is the difference between element and compound? Element is a substance made of only one kind of atom and compound is a substance made of two or more elements that are chemically joined in a specific combination.
What is the difference between substance and mixture? Substance is matter with a composition that is always the same and mixture is matter that can vary in composition.
What is the difference between molecule and atom? Molecule is two or more atoms that are held together by chemical bonds and act as a unit and atom is a building block of matter.
What is the difference between compound and molecule? Compound is a substance made of two or more elements that are chemically joined in a specific combination and molecule is two or more atoms that are held together by chemical bonds and act as a unit.
What is the difference between individual and multiple? Individual is by itself and multiple means with others.
What is the difference between chemical change and physical change? Chemical change makes something new and physical change means the substance stays the same.
What is the difference between matter and substances? Matter is anything that takes up space and substance is matter with a composition that is always the same.
