First 5 weeks oa Algebra 1 vocabulary list.

Variable A symbol use to represent a value that can change.
Constant A value that does not change.
Ratios A comparison of two numbers by division.
Proportions An equation that states two ratios are equal.
Monomials A polynomial with only one term.
Binomials A polynomial with two terms.
Polynomials Sum of all monomials. Consist of four or more terms.
Term Consist of a constant or a variable.
Expressions A mathematical statement compose of one or more terms.
Equations A mathematical sentence comparing two expressions.
Origin The intersection of the x and y axis whose coordinate is (0,0).
x-axis The horizontal number line of the Cartesian plane.
y-axis The vertical number line of the Cartesian plane.
Coordinate Plane The intersection of the horizontal nd vertical number lines and was designed by Rene Descartes.
Numerical Expressions A mathematical expressions with constant and operations.
Algebraic Expressions A mathematical expressions with variable, constant and operations.
Evaluate To solve for the mathematical statement by substituting the assigned values of the variables.
Quadrants The four regions of the coordinate plane.
