Atomic Structure Voacabulary

TermDefinition
Atom basic unit of a chemical element
Nucleus the center of an atom which contains the protons and neutrons
Electron Shell orbitals around the nucleus of an atoms which contains electrons
Proton positive atomic particle located in the nucleus
Neutron neutral atomic particle located in the nucleus
Electron negative atomic particle located in shells around the nucleus
Atomic Number the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom
Atomic Mass the number of protons and neutrons in the center of a nucleus
Isotope different number of neutrons in the nucleus of an element
