Allay Diminish or put at rest(fear, suspicion, or worry) Relieve or alleviate (pain or hunger).
Alleviate Make (Suffering, deficiency, or a problem) less severe.
Ameliorate Make (something bad or unsatisfactory) better.
Appease Pacify or placate (someone) by acceding to their demands. Relieve or satisfy (a demand or a feeling).
Assuage Make (an unpleasant feeling) less intense. Satisfy (an appetite or desire)
Conciliate Stop (Someone) from being angry or discontented; placate; pacify.
Mediate Intervene between people in a dispute in order to bring about an agreement or reconciliation. Bring about (a result such as a physiological effect).
Mitigate Make less severe, serious, or painful. Lessen the gravity of (an offense or mistake).
Mollify Appease the anger of anxiety of (someone). Reduce the severity of (something); soften.
Pacify Quell the anger, agitation, or excitement of. Bring peace to (a country or warring factions), especially by the use or threatened use of military force.
Placate Make (someone) less angry or hostile.
Quell Put an end to (a rebellion or other disorder), typically by the use of force. Subdue or silence someone. Suppress (a feeling, especially an unpleasant one).
