| Banal | So lacking in originality as to be obvious and boring |
| Cliche | A phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought |
| Derivative | (Typically of an artist or work of art) imitative of the work of another person, and usually disapproved of for that reason |
| Hackneyed | (Of a phrase or idea) lacking significance through having been overused; unoriginal and trite. |
| Insipid | Lacking vigor or interest, lacking flavor |
| Lackluster | Lacking in vitality, force, or conviction; uninspired or uninspiring; dull |
| Mundane | Lacking interest or excitement; dull; earthly |
| Platitude | A remark or statement, especially one with a moral content, that has been used too often to be interesting or thoughtful. |
